Spice Blends

Hawaayij

Another wonderful blend from the Middle East, this is a Yemeni spice mix. Traditionally a spice blend that was used in the brewing of coffee it is a simple, clean and fresh blend that can be used in soups, stews and as a rub for barbecue meat. 

I find it goes particularly well with lamb and beef stews and I occasionally use it for  Thaird, the Emarati stew (recipe here)

Ingredients: black peppercorns, caraway seeds, turmeric, green cardamom seeds
